Hi, I’m Laura P. Alvarez

I’m a queer, neurodivergent photographer based between Mexico and the United States.
After years of not seeing myself reflected in the wedding industry, I built In Love & Queer: a photo project by and for the queer community. Not a niche, not a trend. A space where we are the main characters.
I photograph weddings, elopements, engagements, and casual sessions — for queer couples, polyamorous families, and anyone who lives and loves outside of conventional norms. My approach moves between documentary and editorial — sometimes in the same hour. I photograph bodies as they are, moments as they happen, and joy without apology. I'm especially drawn to celebrations: the part of the night when people forget the camera is there. That's where the real images live.
I've spent nearly a decade doing this, and I still tear up behind the camera more often than I'd like to admit.
When I'm not documenting love stories, I'm living my own. Obsessed with my wife Barbie, our two cats, and our dog Mila. Strong coffee, long train rides, philosophy in cozy corners. I love being alive.

Some frequently asked questions
DO YOU ONLY SHOOT LGBTQ+ WEDDINGS?
Yes, and we understand "queer" as a way of seeing the world, not only a sexual orientation. Most of our couples are LGBTQ+, but we've also photographed weddings where the relationship may look traditional from the outside while the people inside it live and love beyond conventional norms. If that's you, we're a good fit.
WHO’S ON THE TEAM?
Two people: Laura Patricia Alvarez (they/he/she), the photographer, and Barbie, content creator and Laura's wife.
BEYOND WEDDINGS, WHAT ELSE DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH?
Engagement sessions, proposal shoots, elopements, and casual couple sessions. If you're not ready for a wedding shoot but want to document a moment together, a proposal, an anniversary, or just an afternoon, we're up for it.
WHERE ARE YOU BASED? DO YOU TRAVEL?
Based between Mexico and the U.S., and available worldwide. Destination weddings, elopements, and cross-border celebrations are part of what we do most.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE BOOK?
Weddings: ideally 6+ months ahead, especially for peak season (Oct–Dec, Apr–Jun). We've taken bookings as close as 2 months out, but availability gets tight.
Casual sessions, engagement & proposal shoots: ideally 1 month ahead. We've made shorter notice work — even a week — but the closer to the date, the higher the risk we're already booked.
When in doubt, just ask. If we're available, we'll make it happen.
WHAT LANGUAGES DO YOU SPEAK?
English and Spanish, fluently.
WHAT’S THE TURNAROUND TIME?
60–90 days during peak wedding season. Most couples receive their gallery sooner. Casual sessions are usually delivered faster.
WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU OFFER?
Credit Card, PayPal, or Direct Deposit. A 30% deposit secures your date, and the remaining balance is due two weeks before your wedding or session.
